My mother bred and showed German Shorthairs (Cedarpark), and I was born into a "dog show family". I think I was about five when I went to my first show, and as soon as I was old enough I began competing (and winning) in Junior Showmanship along with my sisters. (We were nicknamed the Pointer Sisters!) |

During my teen years every weekend of the show season was spent at shows, and I remember summers when we were campaigning and spent more time in the trailer than we did at home. March Break was eagerly anticipated because it meant "The Sportsman's Show". Shoes weren't chosen for style, but because you could run in them, and every skirt had to have pockets! |
|
Then along came University in Ottawa followed by a move to London, some extra courses at College and a job in the real world. So I took a break from dogs (Almost a 20 year break!), but I always went to the shows when they were in town. |

But once Will and I got together it didn't take long before I was back in dogs. Showing a dog must be a bit like riding a bicycle - you never forget how to do it! Still, there's always lots more to learn and I'm learning from one of the best... My first year back I won 4 Best in Shows with 3 different dogs! |
|
At first my focus was more "behind the scene" than "in the ring". I kept the set up organized and made sure the dogs make it to the ring and I was there to help Will out when he couldn't make a dog, or had more than one dog in a group. |

But "behind the scene" soon gave way to more "in the ring", and in addition to helping Will I got several of my "own" dogs to show. My first client was Linda Adam (Ednehill) who entrusted me with her young bitch Nova, Can./Am. Ch. Edenhill Dazzling Nova. And in 2006 I won the Canadian Bloodhound Club National with her! |
|
Later that year it was off to the Otterhound Club of America National with Linda's young boy Aston, Ch. Cruizin The Road To Eden, who was Best in Sweeps and BOW from the 12 to 18 class. There've been quite a few other dogs in the intervening years & some nice wins along the way, but those two stand out as "notables"! |

And my latest personal "star" was Serena, Am./Can. Ch. Petite Cherie Nevertheless, who was #1 French Bulldog in 2008. I took time out of the ring in the last half of 2008 and early 2009 because of the arrival of our son Liam 28 August 2008! But I'm back now... |
